The idea
Parking as micro real estate
A parking bay is a small piece of real estate. Most bays are only needed during certain parts of the day, and sit idle for the rest of it. IDA aims to help owners make those spaces productive during the idle hours — a small, recurring return from an asset that already exists.

Availability may vary by time of day, by day of the week, or with how the property is being used. You decide the windows.

IDA is currently registering owners in Colombo; as the network opens, available spaces are matched with drivers nearby.

Have parking that isn’t always being used?
Offices, hotels, schools, apartments, religious institutions, retail properties and other organisations often have parking capacity that sits idle at predictable times. IDA can help make that capacity available when it is appropriate to do so.
Properties with several spaces are especially useful early on — one property can bring a meaningful amount of parking onto the network at once.

About IDA
Parking already exists. IDA helps make better use of it.
Cities contain a large amount of parking infrastructure that sits unused at different times of the day. An office lot empties at six. A school yard is quiet on a Saturday. A driveway stands open from the morning commute until the evening one.
IDA aims to create a network where that existing capacity can be shared more efficiently between the people who own it and the drivers who need it — with the owner, not a barrier or a camera, deciding who parks and when.
The idea is not to build more parking. It is to make better use of the parking that is already there.
